Evangelistic Sweep Glorifies God in Nigeria
March was declared as the month of radical evangelism in the Ojo/Apapa Region of the Lagos Church and also the start of a special campaign dubbed ‘Ojo/Apapa 100’. Disciples in the Region were charged to come up with lots of fun activities, especially, at their Bible Talks and be united in the Body. This is aptly tagged as the Region hopes and prays to achieve at least a hundred baptisms before the year runs out to God’s glory.
And so, members of the 3rd Avenue Family Group of the Region met and concluded that creativity in our Bible discussions, being people-oriented coupled with intensity in evangelism are extremely vital in our quest to achieve the Regional goal.

The leader of the Family Group and an Elder in the Church, Mr. Israel Ereola encouraged us with a scripture (John 21:9), by pointing out the fact that food plays a very important role in Jesus’ mission, even after his resurrection. And that was when the idea to start up the ‘Suya Bible Talk’ was floated. Suya is a local spicy barbeque. The concerted efforts of all members of the Family Group made the event a HUGE success.
The inaugural Suya Bible Talk kicked off Saturday, 1 March 2008 at exactly 6pm local time. Earlier, members of the BT met in the morning and invited as many for the event for the evening program.
For many, it was an evening to remember. We felt like the apostles who had so much fishes in their net that they had to call others for help after an encounter with Christ. We had over 60 in attendance 30 of whom were visitors and had to call some disciples living nearby to come help study with our friends. After the discussion, all the visitors agreed to stay behind and study the Bible.
We glorified God’s name that day for the victory. It was a day we discovered that if, as one people, we put God in the picture in whatever thing we do, then nothing we plan to achieve is impossible…(Genesis 11:5-6)
