This weekend (May 1-4) in Rio de Janeiro over 140 campus students from around Brazil came together for inspiration, encouragement and fellowship. For a number of years, there had not been campus conferences or even many campus students in our family of churches here in Brazil. In the past few years, however, God has been renewing passion and dreams for campus ministry as well as bringing students to know him.
The conference was hosted by the church in Rio and this year was planned by the students of the ministry. They did an incredible job preparing the schedule, organizing registration, finding housing for all of the students (all of the students were able to stay in houses of the members of the church) and feeding us numerous times.
The conference began with several sessions of classes all focused around how we can “fight the good fight of the faith” from 1 Tim 6:12. The rest of the conference we spent time together building our bonds of friendship by having a dance party and visiting an important fort in Niteroi. One of the spiritual highlights was the Saturday night luau on the beach. We gathered together for an inspirational time of worship and testimonies by students who had been baptized or added primarily in the past year (pictured below). The conference wrapped up with a joint worship service with the brothers and sisters from the church in Rio as we were sent back to our cities to continue spreading the good news of Jesus.
We are confident that God will continue to move in powerful ways as we, through His Spirit, fight the good fight of the faith!!
