For many families along the Jersey Shore, the recovery is just beginning. The HOPE worldwide Hurricane Sandy Recovery Program’s SPARK Academy provides a healing and caring environment to help restore normalcy to the lives of children impacted by Hurricane Sandy. The program helps children recover through a fun, character-building curriculum of visual arts, performing arts and sports.
Our summer program needs volunteers to help us serve these little ones for the following weeks in Asbury Park, NJ:
Session 1: July 6-18, 2014
Session 2: August 3-15, 2014
Thursday, June 12, 2014 –Just announced – Due to the generosity of the American Red Cross, SPARK Academy volunteers will now be housed on the beautiful campus of Monmouth University, just blocks from the beach at no cost and all meals will be provided. When not serving, our volunteers will have access to a variety of amenities on the campus including use of gym facilities, the pool and free WiFi. In addition to being within close proximity to the beach, our housing facility is equal distance between Atlantic City and New York City, providing a great opportunity for weekend day trips.
Here is what SPARK Academy means to the parents and students who participated in or are currently participating in our winter and spring sessions:
