“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy” — Psalm 126:3
Twenty five years ago, when 11 disciples stepped off the plane in Nairobi in June 1989, they had nothing on their hearts but selfless, sacrificial, Spirit-spurred and seed-scattering service that would spawn the salvation of souls as numerous as the stars in the sky and the sands on the seashore. The team of 11 disciples set the history of East Africa on a spiritual revolutionary course. Little did they know then of all the tremendous plans that God had for the church.
We are here today as a testament of the sovereign plan of God as well as serving as representatives of what God can do with his people who follow his will. The Nairobi Christian Church and the family of East African Churches are what they are, because of the work and faithfulness of all who have passed through our doors, from 1989 to date. Today, by God’s grace we have over 2,200 disciples in 15 Churches in East Africa and about 1,600 of them in Nairobi.
It is for the above reason that it brings us much pleasure to extend this special invitation to you and your family and friends to join us in celebrating our 25th anniversary themed “SHANGILIA,” a Swahili word that connotes cheering and celebration, on May 3, 2015. See our video below! The venue for this auspicious event will be at The Safaricom International Sports Centre in Kasarani, Nairobi, Kenya pictured here. This anniversary will be a culmination of all the wonderful memories of the past 25 years, rejoicing in God’s richest blessings now, and looking forward to even greater things in future.
Please feel free to contact us if you can be of any assistance to ensure the success of this prodigious event or for any clarifications. For more details, do not hesitate to visit our website: www.icocea.org. We are looking forward to your esteemed presence and support on the occasion, and have an opportunity to ‘SHANGILIA’ with us.
