The resurgence in the campus ministries of the International Churches of Christ is opening the door for more full-time campus ministers both male and female. The Boston Church of Christ is looking to hire someone in the next few months and is offering to coordinate matching candidates with other churches who are hiring. See the information below.
God calls his people to proclaim his gospel fervently and effectively in every generation. In our day, God has used the campus ministry as a prominent centerpiece to accomplish this task. Five years ago, thriving campus ministries were vanishing. However, over the last few years, there has been a resurgence in the college ministries throughout our churches. Many churches throughout our fellowship are looking for young people with faith, the proper gifts and the right heart to be campus ministers. The Boston Church of Christ is looking to interview potential candidates for campus ministry positions in Boston, New England, and in churches throughout our fellowship.
God has moved powerfully in the campus ministries of the Boston Church over the last several years. There have been some 70 students converted in the Boston Church over the last three years, 10 at Harvard in the last two years, and as of this summer there will have been 12 graduates sent into campus and teen ministries over the last three years. This June, Glenn and Danielle Petruzzi, two heroes of the Boston Church, will be leaving the campus ministry to plant the church in Portland, Maine. This opens up a job opportunity in the Boston campus ministry.
The Boston Church is looking to hire a man and a woman for the positions of full-time campus ministers. There are nearly 300,000 students attending college in the greater Boston area. Many of the schools are among the best universities in the world. As such, there is a great need to have a thriving campus ministry in Boston, able to hold the gospel out to these souls.
The man and woman hired will join a team of four other campus ministers led and trained by Kevin and Melissa Miller. The following qualifications are needed: a four-year undergraduate degree from a college or university, effective leadership experience in a campus ministry, as well as a resume and references. This will be a training role and therefore previous full-time ministry experience is not needed. The flexibility of schedule to run with the college pace of life is necessary. The interview process will begin immediately and will end by May 1, 2010.
Other opportunities are also opening up. Campus ministries in our fellowship consistently get calls from churches looking to hire young men and women close to graduation who want to serve as campus ministers. The Boston Church, in cooperation with other churches, would like to interview potential candidates interested in serving in this way to help match them with churches looking for campus ministers.
