The church in Brasilia, Brazil, has 54 members and has been led by a group of 4 lay leaders as of January of 2009, when our former full-time couple leader, Alexandre and Kelly, went to lead the church in Rio de Janeiro, that had more than 200 members then and had been without full-time leadership for 5 years.
These past 2 years in Brasilia have been a time of learning, intimacy with God and miracles in our midst. We the leaders are very grateful to be able to serve the church here in Brasilia and we are full of faith about our future. We feel particularly blessed by God for Him helping us forge
strong relationships between the 4 of us. Even though I am the main leader, all important decisions are made in concert with the others, and we have striven to resolve our differences and submit to one another so that the Gospel can spread.
Recently, we went through a process as a church where we identified the mission of the church, our vision for the future and the principles that will guide us along the way. We also made specific plans for what we would like to see accomplished in the church by the end of 2015.
Two of the dreams we have are to strengthen our campus ministry and to start our family ministry. In order to realize those dreams, we’relooking to hire a married couple where both partners want to work full-time in the ministry and help to lead the church together with us. Depending on the maturity and experience of the couple being hired, they might lead the church as the main couple leader or serve as auxiliary leaders. Regardless of their position, we expect they will work closely with our core group.
We have been praying about this hiring process for a while and are confident that God is guiding our steps. Goals for the church by end of 2015:
1. Grow numerically – have at least 100 disciples2. Family ministry – have the ministry led by parents and have at least 10 kingdom kids baptized
3. Training of new leaders – establish process for training new leaders and train 20 new Bible-talk leaders)
4. Campus Ministry – have the ministry led by a full-time couple and with at least 15 disciples
5. Missions – church in Goiania with at least 25 disciples, led by a full-time couple and have a midweek service in Taguatinga
6. Serve the community – ongoing project in the community with established leadership
