We kick off the Spring 08 Semester with an evangelism plan.
Jesus laid out the plan in the period between His resurrection and ascension, saying, “you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8 HCSB).
Today we’re obviously “the ends of the earth” part! God has primed and pruned our group of disciples, and no doubt we’ll see much more of that in order to be even more fruitful in the coming years. We are obviously more committed on a heart level coming into this Semester. That is why we all eagerly await what God will do as we’re even more given to ministering the gospel in our part of the connected world.
The theme this semester is Ignite the Fire! It is really about being a place where the Holy Spirit resides. Just like the Holy Spirit is the main character causing the miraculous growth in first century church, we seek after His kind of fruitfulness for a growth that is “as many as the Lord our God will call” (Acts 2:39).
The fire we want to start this Semester: Meet and give 1000 people an opportunity to connect to God!
It might not seem very ambitious when you have more than 60 times that many students, but keep in mind that not many are setting goals like this, nor has our group done so in over 4 years. I’ll admit I’ve been impatient at times, wanting a swift change of heart. But God is a true leader, producing significant heart change. We do this on faith, like Johnathan and his armor barer going into battle(1Samuel 14). Perhaps God will use this to start even bigger fires? All we know is that He is always victorious!

John 13:34-35 – A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

Romans 12:10 – Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Romans 12:16 – Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

Ephesians 4:2 – Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Ephesians 4:32 – Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Ephesians 5:19 – Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.

Ephesians 5:21 – Submit to one another out of reverence to Christ.

Hebrews 3:13 – But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.

Hebrews 10:24-25 – And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Hebrews 13:1 – Keep on loving each other as brothers.
