Our God is a dancing God and if only we could fathom that the dance was made for us, not us for the dance. We are his prize and his delight. We are the music to his soul. The dance was made for us by our very own Dancing God.
The Dancing God
The dancing God breathes life into our souls and delights in teaching his
children. He exuberantly shows us his world and all the wondrous details of His
creation. See the fruit tree, watch the birds fly, its all for us.
We rest in his loving arms while he masterfully teaches us the dance of life.
Satan is a fraud yet boastful and confident.
He imitates God but cannot fulfill even the tiniest bit of what God has so
faithfully shared and poured into us. One would think he would not even try so
empty are his promises, but try he does, caressing and wooing us with his
handsome façade.
Shortsighted our eyes wander from God. The music and the dance fade into a
blurred background almost as if they had never existed. The ugliness pours in;
seductive, inflated, fleeting and uncatchable pleasures fill our horizons and
block our view of the confident, loving, yearning God who waits for our
attention. The ugliness is so diverse, so interesting, so demanding. Our
dancing energy is stolen, poured out like water in sand. Now what?
Despair in many forms inevitably follows our wandering. Unfathomable ideas
somehow sneak into our realm of possibility. Pain grows to such measures that
unthinkable solutions seemingly become our ally. The darkness is not content to
offer just one destructive answer. It can relentlessly pursue our souls,
bringing us to the end of our mental and emotional and physical strength.
But, if we can only remember. Remember and look up. Search for the dancing
God. Search for our partner who showed us the fruit of his power, his endless
creation and the joy of his affection. But remembering is difficult in the midst
of the clamor and often happens after much heartache.
So he waits, kind partner that he is. He waits for our attention. And in a
heartbeat he will save us. All he needs is a word from us, a call for help and
he arrives, strong enough to save us and love us and continue the dance.
Finally we reach; reach back for our long lost dancing partner, with only enough
strength to extend our arms. But the darkness is not forgetful. Every ounce of
the attention we have given it screams loudly to lobby for our continued
attention. Thoughts and ways we long to put behind us do not die easily. We
step forward and are pulled back. Forms that we once regarded as worthy of our
attention prove to only hunger for our demise.
And not just one scorned partner screams to keep us from our dancing God, but
they all at once seem to unite to keep us from him. Please my dancing God, I am
reaching for you, but I am failing. They are too strong for me, but I am
reaching.
Then at once, when our strength is all but gone and the shadowy partners have
almost won, our dancing God steps in with breath and room and life and love. He
holds back our former suitors and takes the punishment they dole out on his own
back. He endures their scorn and hatred and envy and jealousy. He holds them
back while we gain our bearings. We hear his song once more and it pulls us to
our feet and beckons us upward, back to the light and the joy and the music that
birthed us. We breathe and our souls fill up with life and hope and wonder.
This rebirth happens as he takes our stripes. And just as we appeared to be
losing our foothold and then regained it so steadily, he triumphs over those
scorned lovers. He breaks their strength in a heartbeat, condemning them to a
lonely world. All at once He is by our side once more, holding and singing
sweet songs and leading us in the dance as He did at the beginning.
We are wiser now and eager to stay at His side and He whisks us away from our
trouble and pain and sadness and proves His love unwavering.
Our God is a dancing God and if only we could fathom that the dance was made for
us, not us for the dance. We are his prize and his delight. We are the music
to his soul. The dance was made for us by our very own Dancing God.
