My Child
My Child! My Child!
I love you so much
Do you hear it in my voice?
Do you feel it in my touch?
If indeed you don’t
Then I apologize
Do you see it in my deeds?
Do you see it in my eyes?
If indeed you don’t
Then I’ve lost my way
And this poem is for you
Just to simply say…
My child, I love you…
With all of my heart
It’s an unconditional love
That will never depart
I may not say it
As often as I should
But I often pray
That somehow you’ve understood
That despite my mistakes
And troubles you’ve seen
Despite all the arguments
And times when I seem mean
Despite the restrictions
And punishments you endure
Aside from God
Nobody loves you more
He disciplines me
As I discipline you
Not out of hatred
But from a love that’s true
So if you don’t feel it
And at times it’s hard to see
Just know that I love you
And God is still working on me
