Kate Oakes is Baptized in Santa Barbara, CA
Our daughter Kate has always had a lot of faith in God. She shared her faith with her friends in school and was a very faithful part of the teen group. She traveled with me (John) to visit churches in London, Lagos, Abidjan, Cameroon and India. She served HOPE in Louisiana. 
Despite this, she was not ready to become a Christian. Perhaps this was because her faith was more in the head than in the heart. For this reason it was with a bit of trepidation that we sent her off to UC Santa Barbara. We are so happy that the campus group in the little church in Santa Barbara really loved out daughter and took care of her spiritual needs. We are eternally indebted to the Tangs who lead the campus group in Santa Barbara. When we all got together it was clear that God worked a miracle. We could tell right away that Kate finally came to know God on the heart level. We were able to baptize our daughter into Christ at the beach at UC Santa Barbara. When we looked up after she was baptized a giant rainbow-like phenomenon appeared in the sky—no one there had ever seen anything like it before. We felt God was looking down on us that day.
