Women’s Day Should Be Every day

The Hudson Valley Women’s Day 2009 at Mohonk Mountain was a tremendous success. God filled the day with images of his amazing creation as Mohonk Mountain served as the perfect backdrop for this spiritual retreat.

All types of women attended this event. Some who were seeking and searching, some who came knowing exactly what they were in for, and others who were pleasantly surprised by the day. Mohonk Mountain is beautiful and serene. It is vast and spacious. There was so much to enjoy. You could find a place of solitude where you could meditate. You could sit by a cozy fire and pray. You could join a group and play games and have fun. There was something for everyone. By the end of the day, there was laughter and there were tears. Hearts were challenged, and hearts were encouraged. God gave us a great time together.
The theme for the day was “Unshakable” from Psalms 62:1,2. Our speaker, Cynthia Powell, was bold, powerful, relatable, and encouraging. Cynthia has served in the ministry in New York for over twenty-five years. She knows how to speak to women’s hearts. Cynthia is a spiritual role model of how to have a heart for God. At the Women’s Day, Cynthia drew upon her wisdom from years in the Word of God to challenge our hearts and call us higher. She shared something great for everyone to take away from the mountain and reflect on in their individual lives during the week.

I personally feel encouraged to make “Every Day a Women’s Day.” I don’t want to wait a full year to feel what I felt at Women’s Day. I want to stay motivated. I want to call myself out of my comfort zone and to share my faith with women every day. Women’s Day reminded me that I am called to be an ambassador of Christ every day of the year. I shouldn’t have to go to the mountains to realize that I am a part of God’s amazing creation. I live in a world filled with God’s creation: mountains, oceans, children, and families. I need to stay motivated to reach out to people. I can invite a friend out for tea, share a walk in the park, attend a local civic event, or ask a neighbor to a church service. I want to be bold and step out on faith to influence my friends.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have attended Women’s Day 2009 in the Hudson Valley. We had a great day together. God blessed me and two special women came with me to Women’s Day. But I don’t want to wait another year for Women’s Day. I’m praying that God will bless me so that every day is a Women’s Day.
