The New York City Church has several hundred members who are of Haitian descent. Many of them have learned that relatives and friends lost their lives in Tuesday’s earthquake. Many more are still awaiting news of their loved ones. It is definitely a difficult time.
We will be partnering with HOPE Worldwide to provide disaster relief. Stanley Dumornay, one of our evangelists who is Haitian and who lead the Port au Prince church for several years, will be traveling to Haiti on Saturday, along with Dr. Mark Ottenweller, from HOPE Worldwide. They will have to fly to the Dominican Republic and attempt to cross the mountains into Haiti. Their goal is to encourage the disciples and assess the needs so that more specific relief plans can be formulated. Please pray for this uncertain journey.
We have some disaster relief funds on hand but will also be taking several special offerings over the next several weeks, to be given to HOPE Worldwide for the Haitian relief efforts. The disciples here are eager to give. Haiti is home for many of them.
Certainly the disciples in Haiti continue to need our prayers, as well as the New York disciples who are grieving over their losses. Thank you for your prayers and support.
