It was a fantastic beginning for the Jos church when 212 people witnessed the inaugural worship service on Sunday June 27, 2010 as the tourist haven became the fourth mission to be planted by the International Church Of Christ, Nigeria this year alone!
With an altitude of 4,062 feet (1,217 m) above sea level, Jos enjoys a more temperate climate than much of the rest of Nigeria (average monthly temperatures range from 70° to 77°F or 21° to 25°C). These cooler temperatures have meant that the city is a favorite holiday location for tourists and expatriates based in Nigeria.
Situated almost at the geographical centre of Nigeria and about 179 km (109 miles) from Abuja, the nation’s capital, Jos currently has about 12 disciples, including two that were baptised before the inaugural service.
The Jos planting brings to fifteen the number of missions in Nigeria.
