The Jackson Church, in Jackson, MS, invites you to take up the one year challenge and help us make a difference in Jackson, MS. After 6 years without leadership and dwindling down to 6 members, the Jackson Church is ready to renew its commitment and evangelize the city of Jackson. Sidney and Charise Dockery have moved in from Columbia, SC to provide leadership in the church and are looking for a few more disciples who are passionate about making a difference to come join them.

About the City:
Jackson, MS, the City with Soul, is one of the dynamic growth areas of the Sunbelt. In 1990, the population of the Metropolitan area rose to 395,396. It is a major distribution center with a prime location equal distance between Memphis and New Orleans, north-south, and between Dallas and Atlanta, East-West.

As a major distribution center, efficient transportation facilities are a must. Eight major air carriers provide service in the Jackson International Airport and Hawkins Field. Amtrak provides daily passenger service and the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and scores of major truck lines provide freight service to all parts of the nation.

A new, state-of-the-art convention center, the Jackson Convention Complex, opened in January 2009, in downtown Jackson. The complex is near Jackson’s arts district, hotels, entertainment and restaurants.

Jackson boasts two regional shopping malls, numerous multi-store centers, and a wide array of antiques, gifts and crafts shops, eleven hospitals, including the nationally renowned University of Mississippi Medical Center, a great public school system, and one university and six colleges and junior colleges are located within 15 miles of Jackson’s center.

About the Church:
The Jackson Church is made up of seven faithful disciples. We experienced our first baptism in September and currently have active studies on going. We believe strongly that faith is the key to any victory that we taste. Our theme for 2011 is FEARLESS, as we seek to be bolder in our evangelism. Currently 11 of us meet every Sunday and Wednesday with at least one visitor joining us. We have 7 adults, 1 campus student, and 3 teens.

About the Call:
Who are we looking for? Any strong disciple who wants to join the mission for one year in Jackson, MS. We need visionaries and dreamers with a learner’s heart and teachable spirit to come to Jackson and a true passion to see God’s work done in this city.
