Last
night the brothers met for midweek service around a bonfire, each
brother reading their favorite Psalm and sharing what that Psalm means
to them. In between the readings, we sang songs and prayed together. It
was a super encouraging night with the Brothers. One of the men who
read a Psalm was Logan Birchfield. He read Psalm 23 and talked about
how “if God can rescue us from the ‘Valley of the shadow of Death’,
then he can rescue us from the smaller issues we are faced with day to
day.”
Last Fall, Jordan Hall, a freshman at
Clemson University was paired up in a dorm room with a young man,
Patrick Anderson, from Columbia, South Carolina. Jordan reached out to
Patrick, started studying the Bible with them and in late October
Patrick was baptized. The night of Patrick’s baptism, he and Jordan
shared about how they wanted to work together to reach others in their
dorm, the Clemson House! They meant what they said. Patrick met Logan
and asked him if he would like to study the Bible and several days
later, Patrick and Jordan began studying the Bible with Logan in their
dorm room. Not too long after, Logan came to Church and began
worshiping with us. With every Bible Study Logan’s convictions
deepened. 
On Tuesday night we studied out Light and Dark and talked in depth
about Baptism. As we read the scriptures and talked about them you could
see the light bulb going off in Logan. He went home with a lot to
think about. After the men’s midweek service last night and a little
fellowship, Logan, Patrick and Jordan took off to go and study for
exams, but not 10 minutes later at around 9:30pm, I get a phone call
from Patrick saying that Logan wanted to get Baptized…they came over
to my house along with two other brothers, Kyle Fridley and David Boerma
and we counted the cost. He was ready, so we put out a text announcing
he was getting baptized and we all met at midnight at the Dike at Lake
Hartwell. We sang, we prayed and we took some time to share with
Logan and encourage him and at 12:30am he was Baptized into Christ!
It’s so inspiring to see how God continues to stir Lake Hartwell and encourage the Clemson Foothills Church…
