In 2008 tragedy struck in the Milan church. One of our dear sisters in the church, Ani Kaba, lost her husband in a terrible car accident. They had only been married a short time and had recently delivered their first child, a precious little girl.
Before Ani’s husband, Blin, died Ani and Blin had become good friends with a brother in the United States, Morris McCormick. Morris was the lead performer in the well known group “Stomp” and had been for several years. He often traveled the world with the band and therefore had the opportunity to meet many disciples in many different churches. Morris and Ani kept up their friendship after Blin died.
Morris “retired” from the group and began teaching. In 2010 he left his teaching job in Los Angeles to come serve for a year in Milan with the youth and singles ministries. While in Milan he and Ani realized they had feelings for one another and shortly began dating. This May (2011) Morris and Ani got engaged!
Psalm 116:1-7
I love the Lord, for he heard my voice;
he heard my cry for mercy.
[2] Because he turned his ear to me,
I will call on him as long as I live.
[3] The cords of death entangled me,
the anguish of the grave came upon me;
I was overcome by trouble and sorrow.
[4] Then I called on the name of the Lord:
“O Lord, save me!”
[5] The Lord is gracious and righteous;
our God is full of compassion.
[6] The Lord protects the simplehearted;
when I was in great need, he saved me.
[7] Be at rest once more, O my soul,
for the Lord has been good to you.
(Note from the editor: Ani is a really close friend of Cristina’s, whose story we posted a couple of weeks ago. Incidentally Cristina is getting married today as I post this article.)
