CSI Miami: Campus Interns on Fire for Jesus

Inspired by Joshua 6, we marched around Florida International University’s main campus every Monday for six weeks. The primary focus of our march was prayer. We prayed to have great faith and for God to lead us to those He had already chosen; we shared our faith or read scriptures only with students who crossed our path.

The Summer Internship took place from May 16th –July 31st. Along with the summer interns, campus disciple volunteers from South Florida campuses and from Florida State University, University of Florida, University of Central Florida, and the University of South Florida assisted in the work of the harvest. The theme scripture for this summer’s internship was:

Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. ~ 1 Corinthians 9:19

All the interns and volunteers stayed true to this scripture as they marched their way around the different campuses of South Florida scattering seeds of hope. One of the highlights of the internship was Operation Jericho (Jericho March). Inspired by Joshua 6, we marched around Florida International University’s main campus every Monday for six weeks. The primary focus of our march was prayer. We prayed to have great faith and for God to lead us to those He had already chosen; we shared our faith or read scriptures only with students who crossed our path.

In the seventh week of “CSI: Miami”, all the interns and volunteers, numbering 20 disciples, marched around FIU seven times (10.8 miles) thanking and praising God through song and prayer. We were worn out from sharing with hundreds of college students, but also full of joy because what God had done was nothing short of amazing! After only seven weeks we had had seven baptisms, a prayer list of more than 30 college students studying the Bible, and more than 100 who were interested in attending Bible talk or studying the Word. And to top it all off, the South Florida Church of Christ Campus Ministry had more than 60 disciples at this year’s East Coast ICMC, the most we’ve ever had at this conference.

Our Summer Internship officially ended on Friday, July 29 with our 9th baptism, but our work in the fields of the college campuses in Broward and Dade has only begun. We are excited to see what God is going to do this fall, and we’re looking forward to being amazed at the work of His hands. Please keep us in your prayers as we strengthen our young brothers and sisters and get ourselves ready for this semester’s harvest, always remembering that “the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few”.
