Looking for a challenge? The Greater Pittsburgh Church serves a campus population of nearly 50,000 students, and has hosted two successful summer internships in the last three years. The evangelist is a member of the ACR teaching staff and we have a documented history of training campus leaders from Boston, Philadelphia, Roanoke Valley and Northern Virginia churches. The Greater Pittsburgh Church is training students to support plantings and campus ministries at Penn State, the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon and the University of Rochester, New York.
The students will evangelize and train younger disciples, lead devotionals, Bible talks and participate in staff meetings and worship services as skills and gifts determine. Some may also support the teen ministry. The congregation may hire one or more of these volunteers for full time ministry locally or regionally.
The program will contain the following elements:
- Weekly Discipleship groups and time on campus.
- Semi-monthly training in methods of Bible study, conversion and discipling based around a defined curriculum.
- Each volunteer will be expected to enroll in the ACR MTP classes for additional training in biblical exegesis and other ministry skills
- All students are invited to participate in staff meetings as time allows.
- All students will receive training and coaching in public speaking, presentation skills.
- Every volunteer is expected to complete our battery of case studies and purposeful question exercises to equip them for the real-world situations they will encounter.
- Every volunteer must serve at least two weeks in a HOPE WW related capacity in a local chapter, or in Philadelphia or one of the ACR camps.
