August 16, 2013 – The Mid-Atlantic and Northern Virginia Chapters of HOPE worldwide were recognized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region III team for their excellence in protecting and preparing their communities for disaster and home fires. HOPE worldwide was one of only eight recipients from the D.C. area to be honored for their service excellence.
MaryAnn Tierney, Regional Administrator of FEMA Region III stated, “The Get Ready Campaign and American Public Health Association, the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs, Team Rubicon, Calvert Potter, American Red Cross, HOPE worldwide, and the Townhall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC) have taken great strides to improve disaster preparedness in their communities, and I am proud to present these Certificates of Recognition for their continued efforts to make Washington, D.C. and their communities’ better prepared and resilient to disasters through community outreach, education, and partnership.”
