A Blessing Springs Up from the Floods: Colorado Student Baptized

The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever. The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace – Psalm 29:10-11

CU Baptism 3You heavens above, rain down my righteousness;
let the clouds shower it down.
Let the earth open wide,
let salvation spring up,
let righteousness flourish with it;
I, the Lord, have created it.
– Isaiah 45:8

Out of the devastating flood waters a flood of salvation has sprung up. One week from the night the flash flood sirens went off at Colorado University, a new brother Hardik Patel, was shouting “Jesus is Lord.”

Hardik, a freshman biochemistry and pre-med student, studied the Bible diligently for two weeks and became a Christian in the Boulder Campus Ministry. Although he grew up Hindu, he saw the power of the cross and was transformed. Hardik was baptized in the Spanish Towers pool, the same place as Sandra Priestley, who was baptized there over 50 years ago. The Priestleys were the disciples hit hardest by the floods. This connection was not planned, and there had not been at baptism at this place in many years. We tried several other places first but could not because of the floods. This place was planned by God.

CU BaptismWe all marveled and couldn’t help but be humbled before the one who “sits enthroned over the flood.”

Please pray that salvation continues to “spring up” in Boulder as there are many others studying the Bible. And please continue to pray for the people of Colorado affected by the floods, that God would give strength to his people and spread peace in this challenging time.
