SPARK Academy: Bring Hope and Change Lives On The Jersey Shore

hope worldwide hurricane sandy relief spark academySession I: July 6 – July 18; Session II: August 3 – August 15

Volunteer and SPARK something at the beautiful Jersey Shore this summer! Participants will work with youth heavily impacted by Hurricane Sandy through the SPARK Summer Academy. The Sandy Program in Arts Resiliency for Kids (SPARK) Academy guides students in an arts, performance and sports-healing curriculum designed to help them share and process their trauma and move along the road toward recovery. In addition to the beach, our housing facility is equal distance between Atlantic City and New York, providing a great opportunity for weekend day trips.

Staten Island Rebuilding

Join with the NY METRO Chapters, the New York City Church of Christ and the Staten Island Long Term Recovery Organization to rebuild homes and restore lives in the Staten Island community. Super Storm Sandy left thousands of homes in desperate need of repair. Hundreds of homes remain unfit to live in. We need your help. There will be enough work for you regardless of your skill level. If you can push a broom, paint a wall or just enjoy some good old fashion demolition, we need your help!

Projects include: Muck outs/Gutting homes; framing interior rooms; insulation; sheet rocking; spackling; painting; laying flooring; general landscaping and tiling.

Join us on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month through August 2014. Days of service are: April 26, May 10, 24; June 14, 28; July 12, 26 and August 9, 23.
