The Louisville Church of Christ recently partnered with HOPE worldwide by setting up a chapter within their congregation. Thanks to the church leadership team, Brian and Shann Perkins, Keith and Jayne West, and John and Betsy Hackman, who have supported the partnership. John Hackman, who will serve as Chapter Director, was converted in Louisville. He and his wife, Betsy, have distinguished themselves as servants of the church, by providing great insight as disciples working in the corporate world.
The Louisville Church was started in September of 1980 under the name of the Old Louisville Church of Christ. Their desire was to create a church where all people would be wanted and all people, regardless of background, could find a saving relationship with Christ. Unlike most of the churches in the area, their desire was not to encourage flight into the suburbs but rather go to the whole city teaching the good news of Jesus.
Their community outreach has already involved service to those in need including facilitation of monthly birthday parties for children at the local Salvation Army Transitional Housing, hosting events for residents of Pricilla’s Place, a faith-based drug and alcohol treatment center for women, collecting household items to distribute at the centers, and annual clean-up of a park located near their church building. The chapter plans to continue to expand their service to the local community. We at HOPE worldwide are excited and honored to partner with the Louisville Church of Christ and look forward to serving those in need together.
