The Johannesburg Church of Christ is proud to announce the 2015 South African Campus Corps entitled Encounter: South Africa. We are inviting interested college students from throughout our worldwide fellowship to come to Johannesburg from July 7 – August 10, 2015 to encounter the beautiful people, wildlife and culture of South Africa, but more importantly to be equipped and empowered to help the tens of thousands of university students throughout South Africa to encounter the true Jesus for themselves.
This five-week program will start with three days of serving the poor and Biblical and practical ministry training from the staff of the Johannesburg Church of Christ, including congregational evangelists and women’s ministry leader Justin and Irene Renton as well as campus ministry couples Jacques and Laura Genis and Jake and Bethany Ostrowski. The participants would then be sent out onto our beautiful and world renowned campuses, including the University of Pretoria, the University of Johannesburg, and the University of the Witwatersrand, for the first several weeks of our spring semester. They will spend their days evangelizing, leading Bible talks, and studying the Bible with students on campus. The campus corps participants will also be involved with the planning and implementation of an evangelistically-focused conference that will take place the last weekend of the corps.
Along the way we want the campus corps participants to laugh, enjoy building relationships with one another and the Johannesburg Church and experience many of the amazing adventures that South Africa has to offer.
The church in Johannesburg will provide housing, two meals a day and transportation once the participants arrive in South Africa. We are asking those who come to provide their flight to and from Johannesburg’s OR Tambo Airport, as well as spending money for lunch daily on campus, a safari, and other personal expenses that might come up.
