Consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord. – Joel 1:14 ESV
After a month of studying out repentance, a congregational fast and much prayer, the Auburn Tuskegee Christian Church held a solemn assembly last Sunday!
About 99% of the church got up, one-by-one, and confessed how their sin was holding back the church. The line was 20 people long because everyone wanted to get up and feel the freedom of confession! We did say at the beginning that this was a “no judgement zone” and that you should only come up if the Holy Spirit is prompting you. People shared things beyond what we expected and there were many tears. For over three hours, people confessed. We even had to shorten their time because the church wanted to keep going. It was so freeing and bonding as a church!
We then all took communion and had lunch together to celebrate the “times of refreshing” that will come to the ATCC!
Some of the comments in fellowship after the event were:
- “In my many years as a disciple, I have never been a part of something so awesome!”
- “This was the best thing that the church has done, ever!”
- From a brother – “I don’t cry very often, but when I heard everyone confess it made me cry.”
- “This was something I never thought I would ever do”
- “Before I came today, I told myself that I was not going to participate, but when I heard others confess, the Holy Spirit told me to go up!”
- “I didn’t realize that I struggle with the same things others struggle with. I feel like I can relate to more disciples now”
- “I feel like we are all on the same page now that everyone’s been open.”
Please pray that God will now grant the whole church repentance and a renewed faith that will open doors for many more miracles to happen in the ATCC!
