God has done great things in our midst, and we tend to forget that rather quickly. That’s gotta be frustrating for God, to do something amazing to show his love only to see us completely forget what he’s done and be stressed out about the future. I know, I know he’s patient, but you get the point.
Apparently, this is not a modern problem. As early as the Old Testament, God tells his people to take some rocks and put them together into a memorial to mark an amazing event.
“We will use these stones to build a memorial. In the future your children will ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ Then you can tell them, ‘They remind us that the Jordan River stopped flowing when the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant went across.’ These stones will stand as a memorial among the people of Israel forever.” — Joshua 4:6-7 (NLT)
With our life being a little more fast paced than our Old Testament brethren, it’s important we pause and “remember his power and goodness” as we prepare to give our yearly missions offering, a big part of which goes to Eurasia. Watch this video below about the needs in Eurasian missions.
Let’s remember the amazing work he has done already, be aware of the challenges the church faces today, and pray for the work to continue with God’s power.
