What do contentment and worry have in common? Absolutely nothing! In fact, they cannot co-exist. Women struggle a lot with worry; it seems we come by it naturally. An article on psychotherapy entitled “Are we better yet?” (LA TIMES – 1-18-00) had this to say about worry: “We have created whole new categories of what people should worry about, hundreds of new ways in which we can fail or people can fail us.”
Worry is sin. We must fight against it. We are in a battle, and one of our biggest battlefields is in our own thoughts! We will never win the battle over worry until we take responsibility for our thinking and “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5). Who and what feeds your thoughts? It is important to evaluate our views and thoughts about ourselves, our roles and our relationships. This will help us to win the battle against worry.
