Just in time for the new year, the ICOC Campus Service Team unveiled an updated One Year Challenge website, logo, Facebook page, blog and Twitter feed.
The previous website, Disciple Adventures, had aimed to widen the volunteer pool and matched people with one year to give—and those who wanted to find shorter-term opportunities to serve—with churches in need.
Most disciples, however, were far more familiar with the “One Year Challenge,” or OYC, name. Unless they already had been introduced to the Disciple Adventures program, many did not understand the connection between a One Year Challenge and the Disciple Adventures website. The new website aims to make it easy to find and register for One Year Challenge opportunities.
Like Disciple Adventures, the One Year Challenge website will continue to be a part of the Disciples Today family of websites and other media connecting the International Churches of Christ.
The re-launched OYC program is focused on matching volunteers with two kinds of churches in need:
- Critical ministries in campus towns (who often see the fruit of their ministry, after graduation, move to bigger cities!)
- Churches in countries on the frontlines of the mission, defined as places five times “less evangelized” than the world average
The new website also features a short video seen below: “What is the One Year Challenge?”
Because many disciples are in the “still thinking about it” phase of going on a One Year Challenge, daily updates to inspiring content can be found on the OYC Facebook page, blog and Twitter feed, too.
