Family Devotional Unit 2, Lesson 3: Out of the Driveway, Into the Game

If there is no God, then human beings have no authority to answer to. This is the message that our world gives out at every turn and our kids will be taught that they must decide for themselves what is best for them. . . .

Only they, so they are told, can truly determine what is right for them and how they should act in life. This is the underlying philosophy that has caused most education programs to switch from instruction and memorization of known facts to learning styles that promote self-discovery and personalized learning. Those things are not necessarily in and of themselves, but the danger is how they are used in concert with and to bolster the worldview that man is autonomous. This week’s devotional will consider the importance of appealing to God for truth rather than our own subjective choices.

The Out of the Driveway, Into the Game series is comprised of ten units, with each unit consisting of 7-8 weekly devotionals (there are 76 weekly devotionals in all). Each lesson is written so that it can be adjusted for any age-level child. A summary of the ten units follows below.
