Liza has had a hard life. So many women in her country of Bangladesh face incredible hardships but Liza’s story is more heartbreaking than most.
Liza lost her father at the age of six. Later that year she was on a trip to Chittagong, the second largest city in Bangladesh, when she got separated from her mother and brother at the train station. Unlike in the developing world there are no easy ways to find lost children. To this day Liza has never managed to find her family. Following that incident Liza was sent to an orphanage. In fact most children in South Asian orphanages are not actually abandoned. Most of them are lost and few find their family again. It is a very sad situation. The multitudes that crowd public places make it all too easy for children to get lost.
Liza was then adopted but the family who took her in were very abusive so Liza had to return to the orphanage where she spent the rest of her childhood. Through incredible pluck and perseverance Liza managed to complete her education and get married.She now has two beautiful daughters. She showers them with the love she never had.
Her husband used to be a member of our church in Dhaka, Bangladesh. His brother James is still a disciple. James invited Liza’s family to a church picnic recently. Liza was so moved by the fellowship that she started studying the Bible and attending church. A few weeks later she was baptized. Now she is praying for her husband to be restored.
After a very challenging life Liza has found love and security. She is very grateful. We are in awe of her faith and courage as she holds no grudges or bitterness towards her circumstances. She is just happy to be saved.
