The Mission Point Christian Church of San Antonio and the entire city is welcoming over 17,000 disciples from 378 churches in 96 countries today for the World Discipleship Summit sponsored by the International Churches of Christ. 8 Conferences over 4 days in 1 city! Hundreds of disciples from Texas and around the country are joining the 400 members of the Mission Point Church to host.
Before the Summit, service teams and the annual Delegates Meeting were held to pray, preach and prepare for the future challenges of our movement to go make disciples of all nations and mature them in the faith.
Gordon Ferguson spoke powerfully on “The Mountain of Sacrifice” calling our leaders back to Jesus original call to discipleship from Abraham to Jesus. At 69 years of age with recently diagnosed health issues, Gordon shared his own commitment to go anywhere, do anything and give up everything until he dies because that is Jesus call to follow him.
Delegates broke into discussion groups to explore how we can grow in global missions, maturing our churches, youth and family ministry, leadership development and church growth. Great developments were announced by Disciples Today, ICOC Hot News and HOPE worldwide.
Wednesday’s meetings will feature sermons on “The Mountain of Legacy” by Al Baird and John Louis and “The Mountain of Transfiguration” by Mike Fontenot. Reports from the discussion groups will start the process of meaningful proposals to be prayed, reviewed and revised by a collaboration of our service teams and all church leaders around the world.
