DFW Singles Ministry Making Impact

God is doing great things in the Singles Ministry of the DFW Church. In 2011, the church hired Adam and Bethany Smith to lead the singles ministry. They both have a passion for singles and God has used them powerfully this past year. Having a full-time couple lead the singles ministry has made a huge difference. Here are some of the highlights.

21 people baptized or restored to Christ in 2012 in our singles ministry, and there has been a real focus on training the young disciples. 17 singles joined the singles from the campus ministry or from other churches. Ten new Bible Talk leaders have been raised up along with new assistants. Seven couples got married.

There has been a renewed focus on evangelism and reaching singles across the DFW metroplex area. After the World Discipleship Summit, the singles immediately had a three week summer mission team to put into practice all they were inspired by at the conference. They met together on Sundays for training and to share good news. During the week they would meet up several times in groups to go reach out in the areas where singles live.

Adam and Bethany Smith not only gave their hearts to the DFW Singles Ministry but they also encouraged singles in other churches in their role as editors of Singlehood Redefined published by DPI Books. The book is comprised of thirty chapters, written by authors all over the world, and is about everything single. It calls singles to redefine themselves according to God’s word.

In the fall, the DFW Church Singles Ministry hosted the Texas and Oklahoma Singles Retreat entitled Singlehood Redefined. More than 200 people attended and it was a life changing weekend full of inspiring lessons and wonderful fellowship.

Singles continue to step up and serve in numerous capacities, such as the teen ministry, medical ministry, the audiovisual team, song leading, ushering, Kingdom Kids, and HOPE worldwide’s Saturday Academy.

Throughout the year the singles put on numerous fun events to reach out to friends, such as teaming up with the Campus Ministry to put on Friday Night Live (a talent show). Campus students had a great time and were excited to see what they had to look forward to in the singles ministry.

The ministry had a singles devotional once a month. They did two different series of lessons and created invite cards to give to friends. The Simple Life and Emotionally Solid series’ really helped disciples and their guests dig deeper in their relationship with God and others. They also saw more and more guests come out to devotionals.

Every other month, the Smiths led a dating devotional to help promote a healthier and more vibrant dating environment.

We are excited about what God has done in the singles ministry this past year and look forward to even greater things in the year to come!
